The oceans produce most of the world’s oxygen through plants such as phytoplankton, kelp, and algal plankton. In addition, the oceans moderate the earth’s climate, influence our weather, and affect our health. Much of our food and medicine also comes from the ocean. Because our survival depends on the ocean, we must do everything we can to help protect it.
“Everyone is responsible for caring for the ocean. The ocean sustains life on Earth and humans must live in ways that sustain the ocean. Individual and collective actions are needed to effectively manage ocean resources for all.” – World Ocean Observatory
The focus of this year’s World Ocean Day is to prevent plastic pollution and encourage solutions for a healthy ocean. Unfortunately, plastic pollution, especially in the form of single-use plastic, is deeply harming our oceans. According to the UN:

There are several things you can do to reduce your plastic consumption. A major way to help is to look for alternatives to plastic products. Here at The Humble Co., we make every effort to reduce plastic pollution. Our flagship product, Humble Brush, is made from compostable bamboo and has replaced over 6 million plastic toothbrushes that would have ended up in the oceans and landfills. In other words, we have helped prevent over one hundred tons of plastic pollution.
In addition to Humble Brush, we also have a line of plastic-free chewing gum. Most chewing gums contain a plastic base, which is what allows chewing gum to be chewy. However, our chewing gum is made from Chicle, a natural gum produced by the sapodilla tree. We not only make our products as eco-friendly as possible but also make sure to use plastic-free packaging!
We would like to humbly thank our customers for joining us in our efforts to stop plastic pollution!
